Bleacher Report REALLY Loves the Minnesota Twins Farm System

Like the Wild Thing, the Minnesota Twins have had an incredible season filled with many pivotal highs and lows. There have been some poor times and some high points, such as Pablo Lopez’s problems, Alex Kirilloff’s unwillingness to disclose his ailments, and Royce Lewis’s development becoming the hitting equivalent of Shohei Ohtani’s second coming.

As of right moment, if the season ended today, the Twins would qualify for the postseason. However, it isn’t how baseball operates. We are just entering the summertime.

Before the July 30 MLB trade deadline, some supporters are growing restless and want to see the front staff lead by Derek Falvey and Thad Levine make a daring deal. The Twins have an abundance of options if they decide to try their hand at enhancing the roster through trade.

The Minnesota Twins are rapidly rising in the MLB farm system rankings.
But rather than hear it from me, listen to Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report, who has a strong opinion of the Twins’ farm system.

Reuter evaluated all 30 teams according to the caliber of players in their minor leagues in his most recent June report. Given that the Twins were ranked 15th in the preseason rankings, some people would have assumed they would do poorly, but that was not the case at all. Rather, they were ranked third; the only teams higher in the rankings were the Baltimore Orioles and Seattle Mariners.

So why is there such a big difference between April and now? The Twins’ greatest prospects are now getting an opportunity to showcase their abilities, and one of the main contributing factors has been their improved health.

That’s not all, though. One player who has excelled this season is Luke Keaschall, a 2023 second-round selection who has already advanced to Double-A competition. That, along with starting pitcher Zebby Matthews’ recent domination, is essentially what Reuter explained when explaining why the Twins are ranked so highly.

Why then is the change between April and now so great? One of the main reasons the Twins’ best prospects are now getting a chance to show off their skills is because of their improved health.

But that’s not all. Luke Keaschall, a 2023 second-round pick who has already moved to Double-A competition, is one player who has performed exceptionally well this season. That’s basically what Reuter gave as an explanation for the Twins’ high ranking, along with starting pitcher Zebby Matthews’ recent dominance.
